Trophy Case
One striking addition that was completed in time for the opening events at the new school is a custom trophy case in the Commons area. Visitors will notice the stunning craftsmanship of Wishek carpenter Clyde Kramer and the maroon velvet theatre curtain from the Gopher Hole, which has been repurposed beautifully as the backdrop for the trophies. This project was undertaken by a few members of the ‘58 state championship basketball team: Delano Herrmann, Tom Herman, and Lew Hille.
Tom Herman was the second alumni speaker during the new school Welcome Ceremony on August 28, 2016. Herman is a 1959 graduate who was part of the 1958 boys’ basketball state championship team. He and teammate Del Herrmann and student manager for that year, Lew Hille, partnered with KPS Foundation Director Sarah Gackle in May to begin planning the event and a new trophy case for the new school. It was an inspiring series of events that reminded listeners of the power of giving back and volunteerism. Herman ended his speech by dedicating the new case: “Lew Hille, Del Herrmann and I proudly dedicate the new trophy case to Kulm Public School.” |
